Todd Haynes reunites Academy-Award winnersNatalie PortmanandJulianne Moorefor his next movie,May December, coming to Netflix on December 1st, after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.

The story centers on Moore’s character, Gracie Atherton-Yoo and her husband Joe Yoo, whose relationship caused an enormous scandal due to the couple’s 23-year age difference. Two decades have passed since they were at the eye of the storm, with their twins enjoying their last summer vacations at home before going to collage.

While the couple deals with the idea of their kids leaving for school, popular actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman) comes to visit them. Berry will be starring in a movie based on Gracie and Joe’s scandal, so she needs to spend time with them to learn about her character and their romance. However, her presence brings nothing but trouble for the couple, exposing the conflicts around their age gap and the absence of their children.

On Tuesday, Netflix shared the first trailer for the film, which also stars Charles Melton as Joe Yoo, D.W. Moffett, Piper Curda, Elizabeth Yu, Gabriel Chung, Cory Michael Smith, and Lawrence Arancio:

In 2021, she starred in four different movies, while also playing the main role in the series adaptation of Stephen King’sLisey’s Story. Last year she starred in Jesse Eisenberg’s directional debut,When You Finish Saving the Worldalong withStranger Things’Finn Wolfhard.

Earlier this year, she played the main character in Benjamin Caron’sSharper,joined by Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, Briana Middleton, and John Lithgow. Along withMay December,she will be also starring inMary & George, an upcoming British historical drama based on Benjamin Woolley’s 2017 novel titledThe King’s Assassin.
