Yesterday we showed you thetrailer previewforSpider-Man: Homecoming, with the full trailer set to arrive later today. While we wait for the footage to debut tonight duringJimmy Kimmel Live, a photo has also surfaced, featuringTom Hollandin his full Spider-Man costume, along with more details from the actor himself. We also get some new insight into Peter’s burgeoning relationship with his mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who has given his costume an upgrade, along with details about the primary villain, Vulture (Michael Keaton).
Last month, unusedconcept artfromCaptain America: Civil Warshowed that the Spider-Man beacon Tony Stark gave Peter Parker initially included a social media function. A message from Tony Stark asked Peter to swing by Avengers Tower for some costume upgrades. That bit was apparently saved forSpider-Man: Homecoming.Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan has arranged for Peter to get his new costume in a hotel room, a suit that has webbed wings built in. While we don’t get to see these wings in action here,USA Todayspoke withTom Holland, who says fans will see a much different version ofSpider-Manthis time around.

“This is really a movie whereSpider-Man’s not the finished article. He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.”
Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feigeteases that, withTony Stark’s upgraded suit, Spider-Man, “can do a lot more than he even realizes right now,” adding that fans “begin to see just how much Tony Stark loves bells and whistles.“Kevin Feigealso confirmed that, along with the first domestic trailer, there will be an international trailer debuting tonight, featuring “all-new footage and lines not contained in the domestic trailer.” The producer added that he thought it would be fun for fans to see both versions, so stay tuned for both of these trailers later on tonight. This report also reveals that Peter Parker is attending a high school for “gifted kids,” withTom Hollandteasing that the movie is, “more a character piece about this kid who’s struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city.” The movie begins with Peter Parker returning to his normal life in Queens, in his sophomore year of high school. Here’s what co-producerEric Hauserman Carrollhad to say.
“He literally just went to Europe with the coolest clique of them all. And now he’s back with the academic decathlon and the mathletes and going, ‘What am I doing here?'”
The confirmation thatPeter Parkeris a high school sophomore may lend credence to some earlier rumors, which claimed thatSpider-Man: Homecomingwill kick off a new trilogy, with each film representing a year of his high school career. We have also known from the get-go that this reboot will skip the origin story involving the radioactive spider and the death of Uncle Ben. It was recently confirmed thatMichael Keatonis playing the villainous Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. Vulture, whoTom Hollandteases is quite horrifying from the moment he’s introduced.
“The first time we see the Vulture is terrifying. It’s like a horror movie: really scary, very intense and shocking.”
Long before Vulture was confirmed, there had been rumors that Vulture would become the villain for this standalone Spidey film, and it seems that the studio’s approach to villains may have changed a bit with this movie. DirectorJon Wattsrevealed that Vulture mirrors Peter Parker’s quest, in that they are both normal people who become something much bigger, albeit on different ends of the spectrum. Here’s what the director had to say below.
“It’s fun to think that if Spider-Man is a regular kid who becomes a superhero, there’s got to be a bunch of regular guys who become supervillains, too.”
The supporting cast includes Zendaya playing a character named Michelle, whileTony Revoloriis playing Flash Thompson,Jacob Batalonis playing Ned Leeds andLaura Harrieris playing Liz Allan.Jon Wattsdirects from a script byJohn Francis DaleyandJonathan M. Goldstein, withKevin FeigeandAmy Pascalproducing. Take a look at the new photo fromSpider-Man: Homecoming, and keep your eyes peeled for the first trailer debuting later tonight, with Jimmy Kimmel kicking things of on ABC at 11:35 pm EST/PST.
