Earlier today, aChinese trailerdebuted forStar Wars: The Force Awakens, which has plenty of new footage some deemed too spoilery. With just eight days left until this highly-anticipated adventure hits theaters, we also have four new Chinese characters posters, courtesy ofHey U Guys, which feature Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and General Leia (Carrie Fisher). Thankfully, there are no spoilers to be found in these one-sheets, at least none that we could see.
Star Wars: The Force Awakensbrings back original trilogy starsHarrison Ford(Han Solo),Carrie Fisher(Leia Organa) andMark Hamill(Luke Skywalker), reprising their iconic roles for the first time in over 30 years. This new adventure also brings back beloved characters such as Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), who, for reasons that haven’t been explained yet, now has a mismatched red arm. We reported back in September that the origins of this red arm will be explained in a new comic book, due out in February.
The new cast is lead byJohn Boyega(Finn),Daisy Ridley(Rey),Oscar Isaac(Poe Dameron),Adam Driver(Kylo Ren),Domhnall Gleeson(General Hux),Lupita Nyong’o(Maz Kanata),Gwendoline Christie(Captain Phasma),Andy Serkis(Supreme Leader Snoke) andMax von Sydow, whose role has still not been confirmed. There have been rumors thatMax von Sydowplays a character known as The Vicar, who identifies thelightsaberfound by Rey as belonging to Luke Skywalker. Those details have not been confirmed yet, but we’ll find out if it’s true soon enough.
J.J. Abramsdirects from a script he co-wrote withMichael ArndtandLawrence Kasdan, who co-wroteStar Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes BackandStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.Kathleen Kennedy,J.J. Abramsand Bryan Burk are producing with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. It remains to be seen if these producers will be involved in all of the futureStar Warssequels and spinoffs.
The release of this Chinese trailer and now posters coincide with a recent announcement that the film has been confirmed for release inChinaearly next year.Star Wars: The Force Awakenswill be released on June 17, 2025 in China, which has become one of the most lucrative international markets for Hollywood blockbusters.
