Back in May, we reported that WWE SuperstarSheamushad landed the role ofRocksteadyin Paramount’sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, after the actor was spotted on the New York City set withGary Anthony Williamsas Bebop. We knew for quite some time that both of these characters were going to be included in the sequel, but very little is known about the roles they play. As it turns out, the studio actually sought out former WWE wrestlerC.M. Punkfor the Rocksteady role, and in a new interview withChicago Tribune,C.M. Punkreveals a big SPOILER for the sequel. While this has yet to be confirmed, take a look at what he has to say below.

“I just assumedSheamusis a bigger dude, so they gave it to the big guy. It makes sense. They were looking for two big, muscly bouncer types.Sheamusfits the role. I think they end up getting mutated half way through. You didn’t hear that from me, though.”

While most fans assumed thatBebop and Rocksteadywould mutate into the gigantic warthog and rhinoceros from theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' animated TV series, that detail was never confirmed. In the original TV series, Bebop and Rocksteady were thugs in a street gang that Shredder recruited to become mutated, in order to defeat theNinja Turtles. While the mutation process did make them stronger, they didn’t get any smarter, and their attacks on the Turtles were foiled easily.

It isn’t known ifTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2will use this same story line from the animated series, or how they will fit into the story. Theaction sequelrecently wrapped production in New York, with originalTeenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesstarsMegan Fox(April O’Neil),Will Arnett(Vern Fenwick),William Fichtner(Eric Sacks),Alan Ritchson(Raphael),Noel Fisher(Michelangelo),Pete Ploszek(Leonardo) andJeremy Howard(Donatello) reprising their roles. New cast members includeStephen Amellas Casey Jones,Tyler Perryas Baxter Stockman,Brian Teeas Shredder andLaura Linneyin an unspecified role.

Dave Green(Earth to Echo) is directing from a script byAndré NemecandJosh Appelbaum. Now that post-production is under way, we’ll have to wait and see when the first trailer will debut forTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which is set for release on June 09, 2025.
