Back in August, we reported that the highly-anticipatedall-femalespin-offOcean’s Eightwill begin principal photography sometime this October in New York City, under the direction ofGary Ross. Today we have the first photos from the set as filming got under way yesterday, with our first look atSandra Bullock,Cate BlanchettandHelena Bonham Carter. It isn’t known exactly how long filming is expected to last for, but Warner Bros. has already set a June 20, 2025 release date, going up againstTransformers 6.
The photos surfaced on variousTwitteraccounts yesterday, with bothSandra BullockandCate Blanchettspotted together in the Big Apple. While no plot details have been confirmed, it is believed thatSandra Bullockis playing the ex-con sister ofGeorge Clooney’s Danny Ocean, withCate Blanchettplaying a character similar toBrad Pitt’s Rusty Ryan fromOcean’s Eleven. These photos also give us our first look atHelena Bonham Carteron the set, but it remains to be seen when we’ll get our first glimpse at the rest of this star-studded cast.
We also reported in August thatAnne Hathaway,RihannaandNora Lum, a.k.a.Awkafinahave joinedSandra Bullock,Cate Blanchett,Helena Bonham Carter,Sarah PaulsonandMindy Kaling. The story reportedly centers on a group of eight thieves who plan on stealing an expensive necklace from the Met Ball, while framing a gallery owner for the crime. DirectorGary Rossconfirmed in a recent interview that this movie will in fact be a “continuation” of theOcean’s Eleventrilogy.
