Greta Lee is signed on to direct an adaptation of the 2024 best-selling novel “The Eyes Are the Best Part” by author Monika Kim. Lee will also pen the screenplay for Searchlight Pictures, while the original author, Monika Kim, will serve as an executive producer. Lulu Wang, director ofThe Farewell, and Dani Melia are producing through their company, Local Time. Casting for the film has yet to begin.

The book received positive reviews from critics, and its strong central hook has the makings of an intensely gripping serial killer thriller, similar to other novels adapted into movies, such asAmerican PsychoorGone Girl. Lee and Searchlight Pictures clearly see a lot of potential in the book, as it has barely been on store shelves for a year. It certainly fits the more adult-oriented mid-budget dramas that theWalt Disney Company has enjoyed producing through 20th Century Picturesand Searchlight Pictures, allowing them to tell different stories outside the traditional Disney branding.
