A little over a year ago, it was announced thatPierce Brosnanwould be starring as an aging werewolf hunter in the filmWolfland. Described as an “epic odyssey” with Brosnan’s son Sean behind the camera, there’s been little news on the project since then, and now we know the unfortunate reason why.

Speaking with MovieWeb’s ownGeorge Edelmanabout his upcoming Western,The Unholy Trinity, the subject ofWolflandcame up. Word came in 2024 that Brosnan was set to lead the project as Devlin, a former werewolf hunter who helps a young teenager. However, since then, Brosnan has had a number of things on his plate, including voicing Pontius Pilate inThe King of Kings, playing Ron Ritchie in the upcoming filmThe Thursday Murder Club, and starringin the hit Paramount+ series,MobLand. As such, he hasn’t really had time for much else, which, sadly, has set things back withWolfland:

The upcoming action film, starring Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson, hits theaters later this summer.

That being said, Brosnan remains hopeful thatWolflandwill eventually get off the ground, adding that “it’s just finding the time to be able to make the movie with Sean.” Of course, we hope he and his son do find the time to make this one, because based on the film’s synopsis, we can’t wait to see what Brosnan does with the role:

“Wolfland follows a young teenager who, when his sister is viciously attacked and showing signs of a transformation, leaves his small village in search of a legendary werewolf hunter who can reverse the gruesome curse. When he finds the ‘legend,’ Devlin, slumped against a bar and in no mood for ghost stories, Devlin takes the kid’s money and agrees to hunt down this phantom monster, only to find themselves in a deadly whirlwind of carnage.”

Pierce Brosnan Is Busier Than Ever

In addition to all the projects mentioned above, Brosnan continues to be in high demand. At 72,the former 007is busier than ever, and has even more coming down the pike on top of already appearing in Steven Soderbergh’sBlack Bagearlier this year. Next up afterThe Unholy TrinityisFour Letters of Love, which releases on July 25 and also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Byrne as ordinary people caught in an extraordinary love story.

From there, Brosnan will star as Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle in the sports biopic,Giant, which focuses on the life of boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. He’s also got the reboot of Sylvester Stallone’sCliffhangeron his plate, in which he plays Ray Cooper, father to Lily James' character of Naomi. That one is still a ways away, as it’s not slated to be released until 2026, and a firm date has yet to be announced.

Needless to say, Brosnan shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, so here’s hoping he’ll eventually be able to fitWolflandinto his busy schedule sooner rather than later.
