Last week, AMC released the first footage fromPreacher, with the full trailer debuting during tonight’s episode ofThe Walking Dead. Today, we finally got the trailer for this highly-anticipatedcomic book adaptationduring AMC"s “The Walking DeadMega Sunday” event.Seth Rogenannounced that AMC has issued a full 10 episode season order forPreacher.

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90scomic bookfranchise of the same name,Preacher, created by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print - an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers - a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

The supporting cast includesJamie Anne Allmanas Betsy Schenk, Thomas Barbusca as Chris Schenk,W. Earl Brownas Hugo Root,Ian Collettias Arseface,Lucy Griffithsas Emily,Lucas Neffas J.J. Quinncannon,Elizabeth Perkinsas Vyla Quinncannon andDerek Wilsonas Donnie Schenk.Seth Rogenoriginally let it slip last month that the series will debut in May 2016, although an exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet. The network will only say that the show is set to premiere in"mid-2016."

The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television bySeth Rogen&Evan Goldberg(This Is the End,Superbad,Neighbors) and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). The beloved comic book was being set up as afeature filmadaptation for many years, with directorD.J. Carusoonce set to take the helm, working from a script byJohn August.Sam MendesandDarren Aronofskywere attached to direct at various points in time over the year years, but the project never got off the ground.

While AMC hasn’t announced a premiere date forPreacheryet, it’s possible that the show could fill the Sunday 9 PM time slot in mid-2016, since that will be right around the time thatThe Walking Dead Season 6will be wrapping up.
