The actor also recently took toFacebook, where he posted a video alongsideDavid Twohy, where he explains that production may begin onThe Chronicles of Riddick: Furiain early 2017. Here’s what he had to say, about why fans will have to wait so long for the new movie to start production.

“I couldn’t have doneRiddick, because I just had (his daughter) Pauline nine months ago, so whenever I’m a fresh dad, I can’t go to that dark place. But, if you give me a little time, if you let me make sure all my little angels are walking, 12 months to get us all lined up, we could be looking at startingRiddickearly 2017. It does take me awhile. I usually have to go to the woods for five months.”

The actor’s initial post from November revealed thatDavid Twohywill start writingThe Chronicles of Riddick: Furiasometime this month, although he wouldn’t divulge any plot details. Given the title alone, most fans assumed thatThe Chronicles of Riddick: Furiawill explore the title character’s home planet of Furia, which the actor teased in today’s video. Here’s what he had to say below.

“Are you guys excited to hear about Furia? Do you want to know where it all began with that dark character Riddick? I dunno if Furia is rated R, it might be a little more expansive in its mythology, it may call for…”

However,David Twohyconfirmed, “It’ll berated R.” It isn’t known if the actor’s statement means thatThe Chronicles of Riddick: Furiais a prequel or an origin story, or if he simply meant this movie will explore the planet that Riddick came from. It isn’t known if theTV series,Merc City, will be connected to this big screen adventure as well.
