As reported byPEOPLE, starRiley Keoughrecently opened up to the outlet about her “amazing” time filming the upcoming Amazon Prime seriesDaisy Jones & The Sixduring the actor’s first public appearance since her mother’s (the late Lis Marie Presley) passing. On Thursday, during the show’s red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, Keough spoke to PEOPLE about her experience playing Daisy Jones, one of the lead singers in the fictional 1970s rock group.

Daisy Jones & The Sixis based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 best-selling bookof the same name, which follows the fictional L.A. rock band Daisy Jones & The Six (who are loosely inspired by Fleetwood Mac) on their hunt for worldwide stardom and their later split at the height of their fame.

Riley Keough Said It Was “Very Exciting” To Take the Stage as Daisy Jones After a Year and a Half of Rehearsing.

Keough ( who is the granddaughter of the late Elvis Presley)revealed how it felt to be playing a singer. She said, “I mean, it was amazing because I’m passionate about music and we had rehearsed for a year and a half. So by the time we got to the stage, it was very exciting and we were all just like thrilled to be able to test out the thing we’d been practicing for so long and it was wonderful.”

Thursday’s premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood also marked the actor’s first red carpet appearance since the passing of her mother. At the series premiere, Keough was joined by her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen. For the premiere, the actor wore a sat black gown with matching gloves and classic black pumps. She finished off her look with eye-catching emerald green earrings and had her hair in loose waves.

Previously, back in December 2022, the actor spoke to PEOPLE about how herDaisy Jones & The Sixcharacter reminded theLogan Luckyactor of her mom.

At the time,The Girlfriend Experiencestar said, “My mother is certainly an inspiration to me,” before going on to call her mom a “very strong, smart woman.” Keough then stated, “I was raised by somebody who did their own thing and didn’t really care what other people thought. She was definitely inspirational to me.”

Keough’s mom passed away last month after being taken to a Los Angeles hospital for a potential cardiac arrest. Presley’s death followed that of her late son Benjamin Keough who died by suicide in 2020 when he was 27 years old.
