The Marvel Cinematic Universe ship seems to be course correcting nicely after traversing the dismal choppy waters of Phase 4 and Phase 5, which included disasters likeAnt-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaandThe Marvels. Despite those glaring disappointments,Deadpool & Wolverinereinvigorated the MCU after its triumphant theatrical release in the summer of 2024, and now it’s been revealed thatRyan Reynoldsis indeed exploring anotherDeadpoolfilm — one that would feature more of theX-Menother than just Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) as primary characters.

According to a new report (May 2) published byThe Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is in the early stages of penning treatments for a team-up between “three or four members” of the X-Men and the chimichanga-eating Merc with a Mouth. However, it’s important to note that Reynolds has not pitched any of these new ideas to Marvel Studios at the time of this writing.

It should come as no surprise that Reynolds has been tinkering around with a way to bring back his red-clad, foul-mouthed Mutant, given the enormous success ofDeadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s big-screen teaming made over $1.33 billion at the worldwide box office, while also appeasing both the critics and audiences. Ryan Reynolds Already Has Plenty of Beloved X-Men to Choose From

Ryan Reynolds teased Deadpool’s returnback in April, and now that the X-Men are officially a part of the MCU, he has plenty of Marvel Mutants to choose from while developing his treatments. Thanks to theAvengers: Doomsdaycasting news, several actors are already on the table for Reynolds to choose from for his Deadpool/X-Men team-up.

Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Channing Tatum (Gambit), James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) have all officially been announced as a part of theDoomsdaycast. However, given the events ofDeadpool & Wolverine, fans know for certain that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Dafne Keen’s X-23 are also available to join the project. And even though they weren’t seen after presumably being freed from The Void, Wesley Snipes’ Blade and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra would make fine additions to the Deadpool/X-Men project should it come to fruition.
