Earlier this week, the reviews forBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicestarted to pour in, and from the start, they weren’t overly positive. When the first wave came flooding in,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehad a 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which has consistently dropped throughout the week, and now stands at 30%. Yesterday,Henry Cavillspoke about the negative reviews in an interview withYahoo! Movies UK, but today, video of that interview surfaced, where the actor was seated alongsideBen Affleck, who appears to be quite sad when he hears about all these negative reviews.

YouTube userSanConthput his own spin on the interview with a video that showcases some of the negative review headlines, while zooming in on the “sad” actor as theSimon & Garfunkelsong The Sound of Silence is played in the foreground. In all fairness, we don’t know for sure ifBen Affleckwas actually “sad” or not, but he certainly doesn’t seem to be terribly happy, while his co-starHenry Cavillspoke about his perception of the critics. Here’s whatHenry Cavillhad to say about the critical response toBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Batman vs Superman

“The interesting thing is that we get thecriticswho have their personal opinions. And the thing about personal opinions is that they always come from a place. And there’s a preconceived idea which you have to get past a critic before you start writing your article or your review, and that affects everything. What is really going to matter, I believe, is what the audience says. Because they’re the ones who are buying tickets, they’re the ones who want to see more of this kind of story or not and so the audience’s voice is loudest and after this weekend the audience, at least partly, will have spoken.”

Shortly before the reviews started to come in, though, a number of fans expressed theirpositive reactionsabout the film after attending the New York City premiere on Sunday night. We’ll have to wait and see how the masses react to the film throughout its opening weekend. What also remains to be seen is if the negative critical response could have an adverse affect on thebox officeperformance. There have been reports that thebudgetforBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehas ballooned to more than $400 million, and while that hasn’t been confirmed, a huge opening weekend will be a vital part of whether or not the movie succeeds.

Last night,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceearned a healthy $27.7 million inThursday Night previews, barely surpassingAvengers: Age of Ultron’s Thursday take of $27.6 million. However, it still fell way short of the all-time record of $57 million byStar Wars: The Force Awakens, orHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2second-best mark of $43.5 million. Be sure to check back on Sunday to see howBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicefared in its opening weekend.
