Secret Invasionwas originally announced several years ago to mass excitement among Marvel fans. Now the story has been told in a Disney+ series rather than the original movie plan, and that excitement has not only waned but delivered some of the worst reviews of the entire Marvel franchise. The series finale reviews are in, and the news is so bad that it makes the low scores ofShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawlook spectacular.
Overall,Secret Invasionhas either been the greatest MCU show to date, or the worst depending on what you expected from the series. The series has earned an average score of 57% from critics and 62% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes, but of the reviews posted that are directly based on the finale, only one person appreciated the effort. Other reviews call it a disappointment, the same old Marvel story and the weakest Marvel series ever put out on Disney+.

This is a stark contrast to the way the series started, and while those reviews were not the greatest in the MCU’s history, they were certainly not bad. Some called the show slow and claimed there was not enough action, yet when the finale brings the story to the standard Marvel big bangs and flashy fight scenes finale, everyone hates it even more. This is all made even more ironic afterShe-Hulkspent its final episode making that point that not every Marvel project has to end with a big visual effects-driven display andwas criticised for that as well.

Are People Tired of the MCU, or Just Looking For Faults?
When it comes to the reviews of any Marvel show or movie, there are three definitive camps that most people seem to slip into. There are those who believe superhero movies have become too big for their own capes and it becomes a big load of “been there seen that.” There is the polar opposite of this group with the fans who cannot get enough of the everything the Marvel machine churns out. Then there is the third group which is made up of people who make it their mission to review bomb all Marvel projects for reasons like diversity, “wokeness” and any other petty reason that comes along.
Of course, outside of these groups are those people who remain untouched by the MCU, those who have avoided becoming embroiled in the ongoing narrative and have not found any reason to pick up the threads that Marvel have been laying down with recent offerings and its spaghetti-timeline of the multiverse. While there are some big movies coming down the line from Marvel Studios, it is unlikely that anything is about to draw them into the never-ending cycle.
There has been plenty of talk of Marvel fatigue, and even though the box office results of many movies have been very hard to predict, this November will bring Captain Marvel back to the big screen inThe Marvels. Whether it will prove to be a strong follow-up to May’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3or bring another disappointing haul likeAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniais something we can only wait to find out.
