Samuel L. Jacksonrecently spoke about the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series,Secret Invasion, and how it will connect various parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will be reprising his role as Nick Fury in bothSecret InvasionandThe Marvels.In recent feature on Secret Invasion byEmpire Magazine, Jackson revealed that the series will explore the consequences of an unfulfilled promise made by Fury and Carol Danvers to the Skrulls, which was made three decades ago. Jackson also revealed thatSecret Invasionwill serve as a pre-cursor toThe Marvels,and he emphasized that all of these projects are connected in an interesting way. The show will tie in with bothThe MarvelsandCaptain Marvelmovies, providing continuity and deeper meaning to these related stories.
“This series has to happen so that The Marvels can happen. All these things are connected in an interesting sort of way,” Samuel L. Jackson said.

Secret Invasion, will feature a star-studded cast that includes both returning actors and new faces to the franchise. Some of the familiar faces who will be reprising their roles in the show are Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Don Cheadle and Martin Freeman. The show will also feature Emilia Clarke, who is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen inGame of Thronesand Olivia Colman. Kingsley Ben-Adir will be playing the main villain in the series. The synopsis of the series reads:
“In Marvel Studios’ new series Secret Invasion, set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

Samuel L. Jackson Hints at a More Vulnerable and Human Nick Fury in Secret Invasion
The new look for Nick Fury inSecret Invasionwill be a departure from the character’s previous appearances. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Samuel L. Jackson opened up about theSecret Invasion version of Nick Fury, describing him as more raw, real, and vulnerable than previous iterations of the character. Jackson also discussed how the series presented a unique opportunity to humanize Fury, a character that many people view as superhuman.
“Here you have a guy who’s showing his face, and showing his age. It’s an opportunity to humanize someone that everybody thinks is superhuman. I had to figure out some stuff and work out some new things, which I’ve been trying to do for a while. It’s great to have an opportunity to find out who he was and delve into how much of a toll his job actually takes on his personal life.”
Since his first appearance in the post-credits scene ofIron Manin 2008, Nick Fury has been a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’sAvengersteam. However, in the upcomingSecret Invasionseries, set to debut on Disney+ on June 21, Jackson’s character will be seen in a different light, showcasing a version of Fury that fans have never seen before.
