Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versegetting delayed again is just a canon event at this point. It’s strange to think that, following Sony Pictures' initial release schedule for the trilogy,Across the Spider-Versewould have hit theaters earlier this year, and fans would already be talking about a fourth installment. However, the threequel wasdelayed indefinitely from its March 2024 release date and has yet to be given a new date. The movie was scheduled for an optimistic release window, hitting theaters less than 12 months afterAcross the Spider-Versedebuted in mid-2023. While fans are still waiting for a release date forBeyond the Spider-Verse,a new rumor suggests we’ll be waiting even longer for some good news.

According to Hollywood scooperThe InSneider, audiences could be waiting as long as 2027 to seeSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versein theaters.Surprisingly, the report suggests that Sony Pictures is starting again with most of the work on the movie, asBeyond the Spider-Versehas undergone a creative overhaul.

Beyond the Spider-Verse Composer Responds to Delay Rumors

Before getting too disheartened aboutBeyond the Spider-Versebeing delayed again due to a “creative overhaul,“there’s a good chance the rumors could be false. Daniel Pemberton, the composer ofBeyond the Spider-Verse,has taken toXto dispute the report. Retweeting a post about the movie’s rumored overhaul,Pemberton strongly implied that the rumors were inaccurate. The composer didn’t outright deny the report, or the possible delays to the project, but hinted that the internet had fabricated the creative overhaul.

“It’s been a dream since I was a child.”

It is uncertain how much the “creative overhaul” has affected the movie’s production, or if it is true at all. Last month,Karan Soni gaveSpider-Versefans the best update yeton the new movie. The actor, who voices Pavitr Prabhajar, a.k.a. Spider-Man India, said that voice recording is set to begin soon. The actor also expressed that animation naturally takes a longer time to develop than shooting a live-action movie. He said:

“We’re going to start recording for that one in a few months, which I’m so excited about. That movie is deep in production. It’s animation, so it’s different and takes a long time. We’ll see when it’s ready and when it ends up coming out, but I’m really excited. That was one of the biggest joys, to get to play that character. So I’m excited to get another chance and to do it again.”
