In just 10 short days, Marvel kicks off its Phase 3 lineup with the massiveCaptain America: Civil War, which not only fractures the MCU as we know it, but also introduces two new highly-anticipated superheroes. This big-screen adventure gives us our first look atBlack Panther(Chadwick Boseman) andSpider-Man(Tom Holland), who will both star in their own stand alone adventures hitting theaters over the next few years. To celebrate the 10-day countdown, Marvel has unveiled a new TV spot, which features never-before-seen footage of Spider-Man in action.
We got our first glimpse ofSpider-Manin the second trailer forCaptain America: Civil Warthat surfaced last month, where we learned that the young Spidey is fighting forTeam Iron Man. The studio also debuted footage at CinemaCon that had Peter Parker coming home, only to find Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in his living room with Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), to discuss a “grant” opportunity for Peter. This latest TV spot, courtesy of theCaptain America Twitterpage, includes a scene we haven’t seen before, during the big ‘splash page’ airport fight, where Spidey swings into action to take down Falcon, before he must fightThe Winter Soldier(Sebastian Stan). Although Parker can’t help but comment on how “awesome” Bucky’s metal arm is.
Steve Rogers leads a newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity inCaptain America: Civil War, which is set in the aftermath ofAvengers: Age of Ultron. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
This adventure splits the Marvel universe in half, with heroes joining forces with either Captain America or Iron Man. Team Iron Man includes Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle) and the new charactersT’challa(Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
