Back in June, a rumor surfaced that Sony Pictures andMarvelmay be developing a new movie based on theSpider-Gwencomics, afterMarvel’sIke Perlmutterrecently green-lit a new solo comic series for the character. We never heard anything concrete about thisSpider-Gwenspinoff, but earlier this week, a new fan-made trailer started making the rounds, stoking interest in the character getting her own solo adventure. During a Q&A to promoteAvengers: Age of Ultron, producersKevin FeigeandJeremy Latchamrevealed they hadn’t yet seen the trailer, but they both thought the comic book version ofSpider-Gwenwas “cool.”

TheSpider-Gwentrailer that surfaced this week featured footage fromThe Amazing Spider-ManandThe Amazing Spider-Man 2withEmma Stoneas Gwen Stacy, along withJulianne CancalosiportrayingSpider-Gwenin scenes where she’s wearing the masked costume. Even if aSpider-Gwenmovie does happen, it likely won’t be withEmma Stone, since Sony is completely rebooting Spidey once again. Still, there is much more interest inSpider-Gwenafter that trailer surfaced, so we’ll have to wait and see if Marvel and Sony move forward with a movie adaptation.

Tom Hollandis set to star as the new web-slinger, withMarisa Tomeiin talks to play Aunt May. Spidey will first be seen inCaptain America: Civil War, before starring in the newSpider-Man. It has been rumored that the stand alone movie will be the first of a new trilogy, with each movie taking place during a different year of high school, but that hasn’t been confirmed. There have also been rumors of spinoffs, withThe Sinister Sixwriter-directorDrew Goddardrevealing that his project, which was shelved at Sony after the reboot was announced, may now happen at Marvel.Kevin Feigewouldn’t offer any specifics, but he did reveal that spinoffs may happen at some point.

“Well, there could be [spin-offs]. But the truth is, our job right now is that singleSpider-Manmovie based in the MCU. And that’s where all our focus is.”

Jon Watts(Cop Car) is directing from a script byJohn Francis DaleyandJonathan M. Goldstein(Vacation). The writers just signed on a few months ago, so it isn’t known how far along they are on the script, or what other characters may be included. For instance, we don’t even known if Peter Parker’slove interestwill be Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane Watson. Would you like to see aSpider-Gwenmovie? Or are you more interested in seeing what they do withSpider-Manfirst?
