Captain James T. Kirk is set to reunite with his enigmatic older brother, George Samuel Kirk, in the second season ofStar Trek: Strange New Worlds. The series' co-showrunner, Henry Alonso Myers, tantalizingly hinted at this unprecedented union in the third episode titledTomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
Astute Trekkies, however, may be in for a fascinating twist, as some time-travel mischief is possibly at play. While Paul Wesley steps into the shoes of a younger James T. Kirk serving on the USS Farragut in 2259, the episode seemingly features an older version of Kirk who meets Lt. La’an Noonien-Singh, played by Christina Chong.

Myers and co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman divulged that the reunion of the Kirk brothers aboard the USS Enterprise will indeed materialize in the second season, during acandid interview with StarTrek.com. The encounter will be an exploration into the essence of the relationship between James and Samuel. It is not just a blast from the past. Myers wanted to delve into the intricacies of their kinship. He wants to understand and show what binds them together. He mentions that they wanted to give depth to this relationship which was not explored inThe Original Series.
George Samuel Kirk made a fleeting and posthumous appearance in the original series in the episodeOperation - Annihilate!. However, Sam’s character was not fleshed out. He was portrayed by William Shatner with a moustache.
Strange New Worldscatapults Sam into the limelight as a xenobiologist serving on the Enterprise, even before James dons the Captain’s hat. The audience is in for a treat as Sam’s camaraderie with Captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount, is unveiled. Notably, Sam retains his signature mustache, which is bound to bring a smile to the faces of die-hard fans.
