As always, this year’s Emmy nominationshave produced some unexpected nods, and several snubs. For fans ofStar Warsseries Andor, though, even after receiving 14 nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series, the second season of arguably the best story of the franchise has been seriously snubbed in the acting categories.

Andorreceived plenty of praise when it was released on Disney+ earlier in the year, but following in the footsteps of Season 1, its Emmy tally has been nothing short of a disappointment for many. The first season received a total of eight nods in 2023, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.

If You Think ‘Andor’ Is Boring, You Need To Grow Up

Haven’t you heard? Patience is a virtue.

The nominations announced earlier today included the same three categories, along with nods in sound, visual effects, costumes, and music categories. However, where it was severely lacking was in the major acting categories, with only Forest Whitaker receiving a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor and Alan Tudyk receiving one for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance. However, the principal leads, including Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, and Genevieve O’Reilly were all left out in the cold, much to the annoyance of fans.

The ‘Star Wars’ Franchise Has Often Been Snubbed at the Emmys

WhileAndorhas been left wanting in the major acting categories, the nods for Whitaker and Tudyk are something at least, and not forgetting that a haul of 14 total nominations is nothing to be sniffed at. However,Andor’s first season walked away empty-handed despite its eight nominations, and many fear the same will happen with Season 2.

In the past, though, theStar Warsfranchise has received plenty of Emmy nominations, and has even picked up several across both Daytime Emmys and the regular ceremony. This has included five Daytime Emmy wins forThe Clone Wars, which saw a 2013 win for David Tennant as Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program, Primetime Emmy wins forStar Wars: Visions, Star Wars: Rebels,The Mandalorian, and many Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

However, it is impossible to deny that the franchise’s Emmy haul in acting categories has been disappointing, with Tennant’s voice performance as Huyang standing as the only Emmy win for an actor in aStar WarsTV series.Andorcould still add to that if Whitaker or Tudyk can secure a win with their nominations, but when it comes to lead actor wins, the search continues.
