Long beforeGeorge LucassoldLucasFilmto Disney, the filmmaker teased that he had over 50 hours of scripts ready for a live action TV series. But that never came to fruition. Over the last few years, there have been rumors of either ABC or Netflix moving forward with thisStar Warsshow, but nothing has ever been confirmed. Earlier today, ABC held their TCA summer tour presentation, where it was further teased that this TV show may have some life yet.

ABC Entertainment PresidentChanning Dungeywas asked about thisStar Wars TV seriesat the panel, and it seems that there are ongoing talks between the network and LucasFilm. Naturally, no details about the series was given, butEntertainment Weeklyreports thatChanning Dungeywould love to put aStar Warsshow on the air. Here’s what she had to say at the TCA panel.

“Oh, as a fan, I would absolutely love to say ‘Yes.’ The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.”

WhileChanning Dungeywouldn’t confirm if this unspecified project will be live-action or animation, it is believed to be live-action, since Disney already hasStar Wars: Rebelsairing on Disney XD. The series thatGeorge Lucashad been working on for years before the Disney/LucasFilm sale was entitledStar Wars: Underworld, with writers such asBattlestar GalacticacreatorRonald D. Mooreand many more working on the scripts. While we don’t know for sure if this is the same series that ABC is in talks for,Channing Dungeydid say that Lucasfilm is much more secretive than Marvel, while hinting that talks are ongoing.

“It’s all a little bit hush-hush. That company exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel’s secretive, [Lucasfilm] takes it to a whole other level … [Talks] are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet.”

Back in December,Kathleen Kennedysaid LucasFilm has been exploring the seriesGeorge Lucaswas working on before selling the company, along with the shelved video gameStar Wars 1313. The last we heard on this project was just a month ago, when a report teased the show would have set up an origin story for the nefariousEmperor Palpatinegiving him a romance and a reason for his deep anger.
