Netflix has unveiled the first footage from the upcomingStranger Things Season 3. To say that this has been highly anticipated would be putting it very lightly. Fans have been waiting for over a year to see what’s going to happen in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in Season 3. Production started in April of 2018, wrapped in November, and it will consist of eight episodes, which is one less than Season 2 and a bit of a disappointment, butStranger Thingsfans will take what they can get at this point.

Stranger Thingsstar Noah Schnapp recently revealed some pretty haunting news about Season 3, which we get a tease of in the first Super Bowl sneak peek at the new season. Schnapp plays with Will Byers on the hit show and when recently asked about what we can all expect from Season 3, he said, “Oh yeah, it’s brutal.” When asked to be a bit more specific, he says, “It gets bad, it’s very big. I feel like every season it kinda gets more like it’s taking over Hawkins.”

Season 2 ofStranger Thingsdid ramp everything up quite a bit, but Noah Schnapp’s thoughts on the new season and the latest footage prove that we haven’t seen anything yet. This is all good news for fans who have been waiting since October 2017 to figure out what’s going to happen in Season 3. Since then, all of the young stars have been going out and doing other projects and stepping outside of theUpside Down. However, it’s clear that they’re all very excited about what Netflix is going to premiere on July 4th.

Stranger ThingsSeason 3takes place in 1985, one year after the events of Season 2. When asked about the longer wait for the new season, Netflix programming executive Cindy Holland revealed that the Duffer Brothers were taking their time to construct something special. In taking their time, they had to make Season 3 take place a year later to keep up with the young cast all starting to grow up. The young cast that was introduced in the first season are all getting older. But what exactly does “something special” mean in terms of Season 3, but it has been said that they’re doing something cinematic.

According to the Duffer Brothers,Stranger ThingsSeason 3 is going to bemuch more darker and experimentalthan the previous two seasons, which falls in line with what Noah Schnapp was referring to. Things have been building to go that way ever since the first season. However, we’ll likely be getting more comic relief since we know that the fan favorite “Dad Steve” will be back. Steve went through a lot over the past two seasons and it looks like things are about to get a whole lot crazier. you’re able to check out the first look atStranger ThingsSeason 3 below, courtesy ofNetflix.
