It’s wrap party city for Hollywood this week, as a number of high profile summer movies close down production. On Saturday, Marvel co-presidentLouis D’Espositoannounced thatCaptain America: Civil Warhad officially finished principle photography. This was followed on Sunday by directorBryan Singerstating that all first unitshootinghad been completed onX-Men: Apocalypse. And then this morning, we got official word thatRoland Emmerichhad completed hisfinal scenesforIndependence Day: Resurgence. Now comes official word thatSuicide Squadhas wrapped. But not before the cast could do something very cool for the locals in Toronoto, where the majority of the DC Comics super villain adventure was shot.
This may be the nicest thing this group of bad guys has ever done!CTV Newsbroke the story that co-starsMargot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, andJai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang, visited a local girl’s lemonade stand on the way to their wrap party. The lemonade stand was for charity, with the young girl behind it trying to raise money for her brother, who has a rare disease. The celebrity visit surprised everyone in the local community.Jai Courtneyhad this to say about participating in the charity event.
“I heard about Na’Ama’s story and what she was doing for her brother, and I just think it’s so inspiring, it shows there is no act too small when you’re talking about making a difference.”
Six-year old Na’Ama Uzan started up her lemonade stand a year and a half ago. She wanted to help her brother, who suffers from Angelman Syndrome. The genetic disorder impedes speech, mobility and can cause frequent seizures, and is present in 1 out of 15,000 people. Na’Ama has helped raise more than $64 thousand dollars for FAST, the foundation that helps people with Angelman Syndrome.Margot Robbiehad this to say about Na’Ama’s charity work.
“I used to to do all kinds of little stands like this when I was little. And I would just spend the profits on Lollies at the corner store. So I’m glad that she is doing something far more nobel with the cause.”
Suicide Squad started shooting this past April in Toronto. The all-star ensemble cast includesWill Smith(Deadshot),Margot Robbie(Harley Quinn),Jared Leto(The Joker),Jai Courtney(Boomerang),Joel Kinnaman(Rick Flagg),Cara Delevingne(Enchantress),Viola Davis(Amanda Waller),Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje(Killer Croc), andJay Hernandez(El Diablo).Scott EastwoodandRay Olubowalealso appear in the movie, but their characters have not been revealed. Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru for DC Comics in 1959, the Suicide Squad follows a group of super villains tasked by the U.S. Government to pull off a secret mission. The catch is that is will be nearly impossible, and most of them, if not all, will return in body bags. If they make it out alive, they will be rewarded their freedom.
The first Suicide Squad teaser trailer debuted during Comic-Con 2015. The sneak peak was meant for SDCC fans only, but a bootleg copy of the preview leaked, and shortly there after Warner Bros. decided to officially release it. It isn’t known when a second teaser trailer will drop, but it probably won’t be for quite sometime. The movie doesn’t arrive in theaters until August 2016, with Warner Bros. focusing their energy on promotingBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The speculating speculators believe that a full-length trailer will arrive in theaters this March attached to prints ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
