It’s been a long time coming, but the wait forSuper Troopers 3looks to be almost over. From the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, the originalSuper Trooperswas released in theaters to great success in 2001. Many years and other projects would come from the group subsequently until the first sequel,Super Troopers 2, was released in 2018. That year, directorJay Chandrasekharannounced that a third installment was in the works. DubbedSuper Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers, its title was a play on the Marvel Cinematic Universe movieCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.
Progress has been a bit slow moving on the thirdSuper Troopersfilm, though Chandrasekhar teased last year that the film was still in development. A new update has now arrived, perNerdtropolis, with Chandrasekhar revealing the current status of the film. He notes how the project is about ten drafts in, but it’s further teased that the film is finally coming soon, as it’s planned to be their next project following the release of their upcoming movieQuasi.

“I think next,” Chandrasekhar said when asked whenSuper Troopers 3was coming. “We’re ten drafts in, so we’re hoping to do it next.”
Eric Stolhanske added, “It’s looking good!”
It sounds like the Broken Lizard team has been continuously working hard on the film. Last summer, Chandrasekhar said that they were at the seventh draft of the screenplay, though he noted that they could end up getting to the twentieth draft before the project would actually start production.
“We have written draft seven and so when we get to about draft twenty, we’ll start the machine up," he told Collider. “I mean, we wrote thirty-two drafts ofSuper Troopers 1, and we wrote thirty drafts ofSuper Troopers 2. It’s just our process… We’ll throw out entire plot lines and reorganize everything and bring back plot lines. And it’s a process, but eventually, we get there.”
