Right now, movie releases don’t come much bigger thanSuperman, and while dozens of “guaranteed” cameos have now been proven to be untrue, early screenings of the movie have confirmed one expected cameo, and one that not even the most reliable insiders have been able to share with their followers until screenings rolled out.

John Cena as Peacemaker

Naturally, if you read on, you are going to find spoilers, so don’t bother complaining about it afterward.Supermanhas already displayed its epic collection of DC’s best and worst in various trailers, but two appearances have been hidden from all promotional material, althoughMilly Alcock’s sassy Supergirl has been a constant rumorand is one of the two unconfirmed character cameos inSuperman.

DC Star Reveals How James Gunn’s “First DCU Baby” Has Evolved from Its DCEU Debut

The new DCU under James Gunn has abandoned much of what came before in the DC franchise, but one series has bridged the gap.

Alcock will take flight herself as Supergirl next summer, but for now, her appearance inSupermanrevolves around the character turning up at the end of the movie, drunk and demanding her dog back from Superman. It is clear from the descriptions shared that there is not exactly a lot of love between the Kryptonian cousins, but how that is explored is something that we will not find out for another year.

David Corenswet suited up as Superman in DCU Reboot

Superman’s Unannounced Cameo Appearance is a DCEU Survivor

While the DCU is a brand new world of superheroes, and the DCEU is now dead and buried in a rocky past, there are a couple of characters that seem set to have slipped through the crack to continue in the new iteration of the franchise. One of those character’s is John Cena’s Peacemaker, and ahead of the return of his series to HBO Max, the character drops in on Superman in one cameo that no one seemingly saw coming.

Again, like Supergirl, Peacemaker’s appearance is short, and not exactly in person either. As described by screening audiences, Peacemaker appears on TV in the movie, trash-talking Superman – pretty much exactly as you would expect of the anti-hero. While the scene has no real connection to what will come next for Cena’s character, it is probably not that surprising that Gunn wants to make everyone aware that Peacemaker is part of the new DCU.

No doubt, fans will now be wondering whether this means the “really, really big” DCU cameo that has been teased forPeacemakerSeason 2 could be David Corenswet’s Superman dropping in on Peacemaker to return the favor. Gunn previously teased the new season ofPeacemaker’scrossover with the first DCU movie, saying:

“We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."

Of course, there are some other options as to who could show up as the “really, really big” cameo inPeacemaker.Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock’s Supergirl, orpossibly even Jason Momoa’s Lobocould even make his debut in the series. For now, fans are just going to have to wait until next month to seePeacemakerSeason 2 roll out on HBO Max.Superman, meanwhile, flies into cinemas this week.
