The next actors to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane on the big screen inSuperman: Legacyhave been revealed. It’s been revealed thatDavid Corenswetwill play Clark, who secretly fights crime and saves the world as the Man of Steel, while his love interest, reporter Lois Lane, will be played byRachel Brosnahan. There had recently been rumors that both were up for the part, and after multiple other hopefuls were tested, it seems writer-director James Gunn has made his decision.

According toDeadline, screen tests took place over two days. The casting had been narrowed down to three possibilities for Clark with another three for Lois. It’s also reported that deals were put in place quickly to avoid potentially getting halted by a possible SAG-AFTRA strike, which could go into effect by midnight on June 30. With his two leads cast, Gunn is also reportedly looking to next cast the part of the supervillain Lex Luthor, as well as other familiar characters inSupermanlore, like Clark’s pal Jimmy Olsen.

Corenswet has long been a popular pick with fans for the role of Superman. In addition to his talents as an actor, he happens to be a spitting image of the Man of Steel. His name always comes up on social media with fans doing fantasy casting, and he’s even been featured infan artwork from multiple artistsimagining him in the role. He previously starred in the Netflix seriesThe Politician, as well as the other Netflix showsHouse of CardsandHollywood.On the film side, he recently appeared in the A24 horror filmPearland is also set to star in the upcomingTwistersequelTwisters.

Rachel Brosnahan Is the New Lois Lane

Word is Brosnahan’s audition was clearly the strongest for the role, making her a shoe-in for Lois Lane. Rumors of her being up for the role had hit the press lately, and Brosnahan was asked about them. She couldn’t confirm nor deny her potential involvement, but she did say how it would be a dream come true to play the DC character.

“I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt, is my first piece of advice,” Brosnahan said onThe View, playing coy about her auditions. “Butit would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist who is far from a damsel in distress. And I would jump at the chance if it arose.”

Brosnahan may be best known for her acclaimed work on the Prime Video seriesThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which recently wrapped up its final season. For her role on the show, Brosnahan won an Emmy and two Golden Globes. Like Corenswet, she also appeared on Netflix’sHouse of Cards, soSuperman: Legacywon’t be their first time as co-stars. The actress recently appeared in the filmDead for a Dollarand will star with Rami Malek in the upcoming thrillerThe Amateur.

Superman: Legacywill be released in theaters on June 25, 2025.
