With exactly two weeks left untilAvengers: Infinity Warhits theaters, three new posters have been unveiled to get fans ready for this superhero smash hit. The posters come courtesy ofIMAX, RealD and Dolby, which feature several of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together. The IMAX poster, however, featuring just the IMAX logo, with the massive Infinity Gauntlet wielded by Thanos (Josh Brolin) underneath about to crush it.
TheRealD 3Dposter also features the Infinity Gauntlet, although it’s shown on Thanos' fist, who looms over the rest of the Avengers. Other heroes featured on the RealD 3D poster include Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Steve Rogers/Nomad (Chris Evans), T’Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Winter Soldier/White Wolf (Sebastian Stan), Groot (Vin Diesel), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and War Machine (Don Cheadle).
TheDolbyposter features a lot of the same heroes, but a lot of additional MCU characters as well. The one-sheet features Iron Man at the top, flanked by War Machine, Vision (Paul Bettany), Doctor Strange and Wong (Benedict Wong). Below him are Spider-Man, Steve Rogers/Nomad, The Falcon and Scarlet Witch, along with a glimpse at Shuri (Letitia Wright), Thor and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper). The bottom half of the poster features Star-Lord, T’challa, Winter Soldier/White Wolf, Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis. The final characters featured at the bottom of the poster include Okoye (Danai Gurira), The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer and Groot.
Most fans are expecting a huge opening weekend, with theearly box office projectionsputting the debut between $175 million and $200 million. If this projection turns out to be true, it will come in under the $202 million thatBlack Pantherpulled in during its opening weekend in February. Still, given that practically every character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe will be featured in this movie, some think it could earn much more in its debut, perhaps givingStar Wars: The Force Awakensand its $247.9 million opening weekend record a run for its money.
Many are still surprised that Marvel pushed the movie back a week from May 4, with the first weekend in May traditionallymarking the start of the summer movie season, to April 27, with the last weekend in April traditionally one of the worst weekends of the year. That will all change this year withAvengers: Infinity Waropening with no direct competition in wide release on April 27. It’s also possible that it could become the highest-grossing movie of the year, stopping LucasFilm’s three-year streak of aStar Warsmovie topping the box office with 2015’sStar Wars: The Force Awakens, 2016’sRogue One: A Star Wars Storyand last year’sStar Wars: The Last Jedi.
