Jack Quaidis gearing up for the final season ofThe Boys, and he promises it will be one of the most disturbing seasons of television ever created.The Boyskicked off in 2019 when Hughie’s (Quaid) girlfriend was (literally) destroyed by the speedy “superhero” A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), leading him to meet Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and join his mission for revenge against the supes. The show has already produced some incredibly shocking moments so far, but Quaid promises that Season 5 will be unlike anything audiences have ever seen.
Quaid recently sat down with Josh Horowitz on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast to discuss his career. During the conversation, Quaid brought up Season 5 ofThe Boys, which has officially been confirmed as the show’s final season. The actor said he feels incredibly grateful that the series was given the chance to go out on its own terms, and he cannot wait for audiences to witness the diabolical shocks the team has in store for the finale:

“It is really cool that we get to have a Season 5, [a] final season. We’re ending it on our own terms. That’s such a gift in TV and I’m so excited to make probably one of the most f*cked up seasons of television that ever existed.”

Jack Quaid Didn’t Know The Boys Was a Comic Book
Hughie has been one of the show’s central characters since the pilot episode. Over four seasons, the series has tested his relationship with Billy Butcher, Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Hughie’s father (played by Simon Pegg), and himself on numerous occasions. In the interview, Quaid revealed how he got the job, saying that showrunner Eric Kripke called him to audition for the role of Hughie.

The Boys has concluded its fourth season with a stinger that will have more than just The Boys fans hyped for Season 5.
Quaid revealed that, before the meeting, he hadnever heard ofThe Boyscomic books, created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The actor said he was so mesmerized by the script that he knew he had to be involved in the project. This led him to discover the original comics, and dive head first into Ennis' world. Quaid said:

“I read the script, and I was like, ‘This is awesome.’ I didn’t realize it was based off a comic book, initially. I thought he basically just wrote a script about America and put superheroes into it. And then I did my research, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s this whole series of books.'”
Quaid had nothing but praise forThe Boys, going so far as to say that, even if he was never cast, he would desperately fight just to be a background extra in the series.The BoysSeason 4 finale aired this week, setting the stakes for the fifth and final season. In a previous interview,Eric Kripke saidThe Boyscan only end one way, with a massive showdown between Billy Butcher and Homelander (Antony Starr).
