Directed by Maggie Betts and written by Betts and Doug Wright,The Burialfinds the likes of Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country, Birds of Prey), Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World Dominion, Elemental), Dorian Missick (Southland), Pamela Reed (Kindergarten Cop), Amanda Warren (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Jim Klock (The Underground Railroad), Alan Ruck (Succession), Billy Slaughter (Mayfair Witches), and Lance E. Nichols (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) starring alongsideTommy Lee Jonesand Jamie Foxx, with Bill Camp (Sound of Freedom, Joker) set to portray Raymond Loewen, the former business owner and political figure.
Filmmaker Maggie Betts has only made a small handful of films over the last decade and change, but each one has been met with much critical acclaim, with her debut featureNovitiatebeing nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and Betts receiving a Jury Award for her work as director.

Jamie Foxx Calls the Burial a ‘Great American Story’
Jamie Foxx, who is also a producer onThe Burial, spoke withPEOPLErecently about the movie, calling it “a great American story” and revealing that it is a special project for him.
“We actually heard about this project probably 15 years ago. So it tells you how projects can be special. You hear about it 15 years ago, but now, everything lines up.”
Foxx went on to heap praise on everyone involved in the movie, from the director to his fellow producers and co-stars, as well as real-life lawyer Willie E. Gary.
“Maggie Betts lines up. [Producer] Datari Turner lines up. Everybody involved lines up, and then here we are embarking upon an incredible story, with an amazing character. It just feels good!”
Foxx has of course suffered several health setbacks recently, with the actor having described what happened as being like a journey “to hell and back.” Thankfully, the actor seems to be recovering well, and no doubt audiences cannot wait to see him doing what he does best alongside another powerhouse talent in Tommy Lee Jones.
The Burialis scheduled to be released in theaters on October 6 and is due to land on Prime Video on October 13.
