The director shared the first photo from the “fogbound backyard” set, while the officialNew Line CinemaTwitter account shared another photo, featuring an actual priest blessing the set beforeproductionbegan. It isn’t known where production is taking place quite yet, but hopefully the director keeps sharing more images from the set as shooting continues.

No specific plot details have been confirmed at this time, except that the story will continue to follow the real-life paranormal investigations ofEd WarrenandLorraine Warren. The Conjuringwriters Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes are back to writeThe Conjuring 2, with directorJames Wanalso producing alongside Rob Cowan andPeter Safran. Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter are serving as executive producers. New Line Cinema has already set a July 30, 2025 release date forThe Conjuring: The Enfield Poltergeist, which puts the sequel up against Lionsgate’sNow You See Me 2: The Second Actand Universal’s highly-anticipated video game adaptationWarcraft. With production starting today, that gives directorJames Wanless than nine months to complete principal photography and post-production.
