The marketing forThe Fantastic Four: First Stepshas done a good job so far of keeping plot-heavy scenes out of the promotional material for the film, until now. With the movie a little over a week away, new trailers and clips have slowly shown more of the film’s plot, and now this latest teaser has revealed an exciting new story detail that seems critical to the plot of the entire movie. The focus of the newest clip surrounds Galactus' true motives, and, as it turns out, he is after one particular character in the movie, and will spare Earth if he gets them.

The clip (which can be viewed below) shows The Fantastic Four holding a press conference to discuss what they found out on their trip to space to confront Galactus.Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal)does most of the talking in this clip, revealing that instead of trying first to defeat Galactus, they negotiated with him, though he asked for “too high a price” to leave the Earth alone. As it turns out, Galactus wants Sue (Vanessa Kirby) and Reed’s child in order not to devour the planet.

‘The Fantastic Four’ Merch Reveals the MCU’s Most Powerful New Character (No, It’s Not Galactus)

One of the most powerful beings in all of Marvel Comics makes their MCU debut in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’

It’s an interesting new development in the story, and one that has been a part of many plot descriptions of the movie that come from various leakers and reporters. The Fantastic Fourwill seemingly put a significant emphasis on Franklin Richards, who, in the comics, is one of the most powerful beings alive because of his reality-warping powers. While it is uncertain how much of the character’s powers will translate over from the comics, it’s safe to say that it will more than likely be similar, given that Galactus is holding the planet hostage over the child.

One thing that the marketing continues to hide, however, is a complete look at Galactus, whose presence will loom over the movie so large that the aspect ratio of the film will change. The promotional material is also hiding the voice performance of Ralph Ineson, best known for Robert Eggers' films likeThe WitchandNosferatu, who will be bringing Galactus to life. The actor has a deep and gravely voice, and one that will undoubtedly be put to good use in First Steps.

Given how The Fantastic Four seemingly make their way to the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline as seen in the post-credits scene ofThunderbolts*, it’s hard to tell whether they will successfully protect their own Earth (and Red and Sue’s child) from Galactus. In the comics, Galactus and Franklin have an interesting and complicated relationship, with the latter’s powers at some points even surpassing the overwhelming force of nature that Galactus is. Given that Franklin is a baby inFirst Steps, it’s unlikely audiences will be seeing that kind of relationship in the movie.

Overall, this latest clip from the upcoming MCU project is an interesting one, though some may think that it is revealing a bit too much about the film so close to its release. There are still other things Marvel Studios has kept hidden, though, as much of the action shown in the trailers has been the same visual effects shots, hiding what will hopefully be anexciting final battle with Galactus.
