AStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalkertoy leak reveals Rey’s training will have a link toA New Hope. Toy leaks are about to become a lot more common as the release date draws near. There have been a lot of questions about Rey’s Jedi training in the sequel trilogy fromStar Warsfans, especially considering how fast she took to learning everything. Now, we’re about to see a bit of a time jump fromThe Rise of Skywalker, so Rey should be even more powerful than ever in the ways of the Jedi.
The Hot Toys MMS559Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker1/6th scale Rey and D-O Collectible Set is currently not up for pre-order just yet. Besides the new droid, the set features Rey with a helmet which features a familiar looking blast shield and a classic Jedi remote training ball as seen first in 1977’sStar Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. These pieces, paired with the fact that Rey is using the same Lightsaber as Luke Skywalker is a cool nod to classicStar Wars, without being too over the top.
InThe Rise of Skywalkerpromotional footage that we’ve seen thus far, there is a shot of Rey in the jungle dropping a helmet and running.Star Warsfans started to speculate about what the helmet could be and some attributed it toLeia Organa’s helmet in Return of the Jedi. However, it appears that the helmet in question is actually a part of her Jedi training and is actually closer to Luke Skywalker than anything. Will Force Ghost Luke be guiding Rey through her training in these scenes? That’s unclear at the moment, but it is a possibility.
Going even deeper, and back to Leia Organa, this new toy fromThe Rise of Skywalkermay confirm the rumors thatLeia has been training Rey. This is obviously speculation, but there has been a lot of talk about Leia and her Force abilities sinceThe Last Jedi. With that being said, we do know that there is only around eight minutes of Carrie Fisher footage in total used in the upcoming movie. It’s entirely possible that this bit of training gear is all random and something that Rey picked up along the way.
