After the monstrous box office success ofDeadpoolearlier this year,Deadpool 2is certainly happening, withRyan Reynoldsset to return as theMerc With the Mouthalong with directorTim Millerand writersRhett ReeseandPaul Wernick. The post credit scene ofDeadpoolfeaturedRyan Reynoldsrevealing that the iconic comic book character Cable will be featured in the sequel, with the actor teasing possible candidates such asMel Gibson,Dolph Lundgrenand evenKeira Knightleyfor the role. While Cable hasn’t been officially cast yet, several actors have expressed interest in the role, and it seems we now have another contender, with WWE Superstar turned actorAdam Copelanda.k.a.Edgethrowing his hat in the ring.

Adam Copeland, who mentioned the Cable role onTwitterthis weekend, joinsStephen Lang,Dolph Lundgren, andRon Perlmanas actors who have expressed their desire to playCablein this big screen sequel, but we don’t even know for sure if casting has gotten under way for the role. In the comics, Cable is portrayed as a man in his 60s, which may putAdam Copelandat a disadvantage, since he’s only 42. But we don’t know how closely they’ll stick to the character’s comic book roots. Still, it’s possible that we could hear who’s playing Cable sooner rather than later, if another rumor proves to be true.

We reported last month thatRyan Reynoldshad closed his deal for the sequel, with production starting as early as this fall. That was never confirmed, and 20th Century Fox has yet to issue an official release date forDeadpool 2. Still, givenDeadpool’s success, becoming the biggest R-rated movie of all time with $763.1 million, it isn’t surprising that 20th Century Fox wants to getDeadpool 2in production as quickly as possible.

Aside from Cable’s inclusion, very little is known about the story forDeadpool 2, but a rumor surfaced in February that the sequel will also introduce Marvel Comics characterDominioas Cable’s love interest. But that hasn’t been confirmed either.Bella Thornealso recently revealed that she’d like to playLady Deadpoolas well. It’s possible that this sequel could tie into anotherX-Menspinoff,X-Force, which has been in development for the past few years with writer-directorJeff Wadlow. We still don’t know when that project is moving forward. The studio is also developingThe New Mutants, which has been rumored to featureDeadpoolstarBrianna Hildenbrandas Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Adam Copelandis best known for his work in the squared circle as WWE Superstar Edge, but he is also building an acting resume as well. He made his feature film debut in 2000 by playing Lachlan inHighlander: Endgame, and he has also appeared on TV shows such asMind of Mencia,MADtv,Sanctuary,Clash Time, along with a recurring role onHaven. He most recently appeared on The CW’s hit superhero seriesThe Flashas Atom Smasher, and he will next be seen on the big screen inInterrogation. We’ll have to wait and see who will land the coveted Cable role inDeadpool 2, so stay tuned.
