Production continues on Marvel’s highly-anticipatedPhase 3sequelThor: Ragnarok, under the direction ofTaika Waititi. The filmmaker has been an active presence on social media throughout the shoot, and over the weekend, he shared a new image teasing an impressive five-camera setup onTwitter. No details were given about what scene the filmmaker is shooting with this unique five-camera setup.
We reported last week thatSam Neillhas joined the cast, which reunites him withJurassic ParkstarJeff Goldblum, who plays The Grandmaster. No details were given as to who he’s playing, but it doesn’t seem that he has a very large role, since the actor admitted that he only worked a few days on this superhero adventure. Production started on July 4th in Queensland, Australia before moving to Brisbane.
The cast already has some stellar actors aboard, including two-time Oscar-winnerCate Blanchettas the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela,Tessa Thompsonas the classic hero Valkyrie andKarl UrbanasSkurge.Karl Urbanrevealed a few days ago that he has wrapped on the production. Rounding out the cast for the film is three-time Oscar-nomineeMark Ruffaloreprising his role of Bruce Banner/the Hulk fromThe AvengersandAvengers: Age of Ultron.Chris Hemsworthis back as Thor, SirAnthony Hopkinsreturns as Odin, andTom Hiddlestonis back one last time as Loki.
Marvel has yet to release an official synopsis forThor 3as of yet, but we do know a few things about the plot of the movie. For one, it will at least be partially adapting the belovedPlanet Hulkstoryline from the comics, which is something fans have been craving in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time. We also know that it has been described as a road movie with Thor and Bruce Banner/The Hulk joining forces to take down the bad guys in the movie. There are also rumors thatBenedict Cumberbatchmay be making an appearance in the movie asDoctor Strangeand that at least part of the movie will be taking place on Earth, or Midgard, although most of the movie will be set in the cosmos.

Marvel has set a June 30, 2025 release date forThor: Ragnarok, which currently doesn’t have any direct competition at this time, but that could change between now and then.
