Tom Hollandrecently revealed that he gets more compliments for lip-syncing Rihanna’s “Umbrella” than he does for his movies. While chatting withThe Hollywood Reporter,theSpider-Manstar told the outlet that he gets more praise for his viral rendition onLip Sync Battlethan he does for his Marvel movies and well-received dramas.

“It is an interesting one. Because I’ve really worked hard in my career and I’ve really been calculated in deciding what it is I do and when I do it. And for all the movies that I’m incredibly proud of, theLip Sync Battleis what I get the most compliments for.”

Back in 2017, Holland appeared on the music competition show going up against hisSpider-Manco-star andnow girl-friend Zendaya, who performed “Tyrone” and “24k Magic.” The Cherry actor’s attention-grabbing performance started out with “Singin' in the Rain” before transitioning into “Umbrella,” which saw Holland rock a bustier and fishnet stockings while grooving along to the beat and doing a flip.

Regarding his performance, Holland said, “I’m proud of it. I like that it left a lasting impact. It was an amazing time. My life was changing before my eyes.Spider-Manwas coming out. I was on the up. I was getting offers and turning them down for the first time, which was really crazy… I was finally at that stage where I could say, ‘Can I bring my friends?’ And they’d say, ‘Yeah.'”

Tom Holland Stated That He Grew “Up in the Most Non-Toxic-Masculine Environment Possible”

The Devil All the Timestar stated that he wasn’t thinking about making a statement, noting that when the costume designer put together his outfit, he wasn’t hesitant to rock the look. He said, “I don’t give a f—. I’ve grown up in the most non-toxic-masculine environment possible. I didn’t realize what I was doing was so forward-thinking. I was just like, ‘Yeah, f— it, I’ll put some fishnets on and dance in the rain. That’ll be really fun. I don’t care.'”

Still, Holland noted that his performance onLip Sync Battleisn’t something he’d repeat. TheChaos Walkingstar said, “You’d never catch me doing that now. Just because I don’t want to do a f—ing TV show that I don’t need to do. I’d rather go and play golf and live my little private life.”

Currently, Holland can be seen on Apple TV+’s miniseriesThe Crowded Room, where he plays Upstate New York teenager Danny Sullivanwho is arrested for shooting at Rockefeller Center in the summer of 1979. The series also stars Amanda Seyfried as Rya Goodwin and is based on the 1981 novelThe Minds of Billy Milligan.

Recently while speaking with EW, Holland told the outlet that playing Danny wasn’t always easy and that the role changed how the actor regards his own mental health. Holland stated, “I’m no stranger to the physical aspects of the job doing the whole action-movie thing, but the mental aspect, it really beat me up and it took a long time for me to recover afterwards, to sort of get back to reality.”
