Filming is underway onSpider-Man: Brand New Day, and even though the movie won’t hit theaters until July 2026, fans are getting a bit of a sneak peek.Spider-Man: Brand New Daywill mark the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is the bridge film betweenThe Fantastic Four: First StepsandAvengers: Doomsday. If all eyes weren’t already on the nextSpider-Manmovie for just being a Spider-Man movie, there is more added pressure to it now.

TheSpider-Man: Brand New Dayofficial X page shared a short one-minute video that detailed the first day on set. It featured Tom Holland in the suit filming in Glagslow, Scotland. Sony and Marvel Are Promoting ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Early

Sony Pictures appears to be adopting a significantly different marketing strategy forSpider-Man: Brand New Daycompared to the one used forSpider-Man: No Way Home. A combination of being shot during the COVID-19 pandemic on closed sets, along with the secretive nature of the multiverse cameos from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as past Spider-Mans, madeNo Way Homea very secretive movie, with thefirst teaser not coming until five months before the movie opened.Spider-Man: Brand New Day, however, is not only openly filming in locations where the public can see, but Sony Pictures and Marvel are releasing promotional videos just a week into filming.

Part of the decision to promoteSpider-Man: Brand New Daymight be to get hype going for the MCU followingThe Fantastic Four: First Step’s disappointing second weekend box office. DespiteThe Fantastic Four: First Stepshaving one of the best opening weekends of the year and being among the highest-grossing films of the summer movie season, the sheer magnitude of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has madeits current $219 million domestic gross seem like a disappointment. Although audience reaction will likely boost the Fantastic Four brand, similar to the surge Ant-Man experienced afterCaptain America: Civil War, or even whatSpider-Man: Far From Homesaw overSpider-Man: Homecomingafter the webhead’s twoAvengersappearances, Marvel Studios needs to shift the conversation to their next big film.
