Tommy Wiseauis everywhere these days thanks to James Franco’sThe Disaster Artistand now, after a Joker audition tape for DC Films' upcoming Martin Scorsese-producedJokerorigin story movie, a fan-made clip firmly places Wiseau into Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knight. Tommy Wiseau has previously offered up his services for theStar Warsfranchise whenThe Last Jediwas out in theaters, but his Joker campaign seems to have gotten the most traction. Maybe a role as the Clown Prince of Crime is in the cards for Wiseau in some kind of project.
Earlier this week, a pretty crazy “audition tape” surfaced online with Tommy Wiseau dressed as theHeath Ledgerversion ofthe JokerinThe Dark Knight. The video is exactly what you picture, but it has a certain charm to it and it actually seems like Wiseau might be more than a little crazy deep down inside. That being said, a fan decided to splice that audition tape into clips fromThe Dark Knightand the results are pretty funny, if a little choppy.
The first clip that Tommy Wiseau is magically put into is the end of the opening bank robbing scene where the Joker is asked what he believes in. Wiseau’s face shows up fromunderneath the clown maskto wrestle around the words, “what doesn’t kill you make(s) you stranger.” The line seems like a real challenge for the star ofThe Room, which is part of the charm. The best part has to be his laugh as he dashes away. Next up, he proposes a plan to “kill the Batmen,” which is strange, because there’s only one Batman in the movie.
Where Tommy Wiseau really seems to shine as the Joker inThe Dark Knightis while reciting the iconic “why so serious?” line while getting ready to carve a smile. This may not be a compliment, but Wiseau seems like a perfect unhinged serial killer at this point in the fan-made video. This part of the short clip is actually quite frightening, so you’ve been warned. It just may give you nightmares of what Tommy Wiseau is capable of as the Clown Prince of Crime.
At this point in the game, there’s no telling where Tommy Wiseau might offer up his talents via Twitter. The star ofThe Roomhas a habit of hitting up major Hollywood stars and directors to try and obtain his roles. Unorthodox, yes, but then we wouldn’t have a fan-made version of Wiseau as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knight. For now, Wiseau and long-time partner Greg Sestero are preparing to launch their next movie, entitledBest F(r)iends.
