In an exclusive interview withMovieWeb, actor and directorTyler Perryrevealed that he currently has “eight more movies” planned forNetflix. While discussing Perry’s new movie,Mea Cupla, Perry revealed that, alongside the legal thriller, he still has several projects that he is currently working on in conjunction with the streaming platform.
“I’ve got eight more movies to do with them. So, I don’t know what I’m going to do, what story I’m going to tell next. It’s just whatever character shows up. If I think it’s interesting, and there’s something to say there, we’ve got to follow that through.”

One of these eight new projects is the war dramaSix Triple Eight, which sees Tyler Perry once again writing and directing, with the cast featuring Kerry Washington, Susan Sarandon, Oprah Winfrey, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, and Sam Waterston. Based on a 2019 World War II History magazine article by Kevin M. Hymel,Six Triple Eightwill showcase the contributions made to the war effort by the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black and all-female battalion.
Another of Perry’s many Netflix movies isMadea’s Destination Wedding, which will see the return of Perry as the titular Mabel “Madea” Simmons and is the thirteenth film intheMadeafranchise.

Perry went on to discuss his creative process, and his stacked workload, revealing that he will often have characters that “want to talk” showing up in his head, and he simply just writes it down.

“I’ll get characters in my head. They show up and they want to talk, and they want to say things, and I write it down. Sometimes I’ll get up in the morning and somebody’s talking. I’m just writing it down, and I never really know where it’s going. I don’t do an outline and things like that, no ‘This is what’s happening next’ or beat sheets or things that people do. The way the story comes is the way I tell it, and that’s the end product.”
