The first trailer for Jared Padalecki’sWalkerreboot has arrived. TheSupernaturalstar is taking the reins from Chuck Norris, who starred inWalker, Texas Rangerfrom 1993 to 2001. Padalecki plays Cordell Walker, a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. The broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case - only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home.
TheWalker, Texas Rangerreboot will show Cordell as he attempts to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers history), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death. Jared Padalecki’s Cordell is clearly still dealing with the loss of his wife in the first trailer. Cordell claims “some things don’t add up” when discussing his wife’s death in the new footage.
Jared Padaleckiposted theWalkerreboot trailer on his Twitter account. “It’s been a long road to get here, but it has my entire heart,” Padalecki writes. “I hope you join us on January 21st for the premier ofWalker. #SPNFamily meet the #WalkerFamily.“Supernaturaljust ended and fans are still reeling from what they saw in the series finale. HopefullyWalkerwill be the new show that those fans gravitate towards since their main show has come to an end.
Jared Padalecki recently spoke about what fans can expect withWalkerand he feels that it will bea lot different from the original show. “My Walker has zero to do with Chuck’s Walker,” Padalecki said. “I grew up in Texas andWalker, Texas Rangerwas obviously a massive show. I watched it but this is a brand new character, brand new story and brand new era. Just a similar name. Cordell’s the newWalker, Texas Ranger, nothing to do with Chuck.” Padalecki’s promise is evident in the first footage from the series, which shared little with what Chuck Norris did in the early 1990s.
Chuck Norris had to give Jared Padalecki his blessing to reboot his show. “So we had to get his blessing tocreate a new versionof it,” says Padalecki. “I know we have his blessing but I don’t know what his involvement will or won’t be.” Fans of the original show are hoping that Norris will come around for a cameo or two, but that has yet to be confirmed at this time.
