Will the Arrow, Flash & Supergirl Crossover Be a Musical?

After several weeks of rumors, it was finally confirmed last month that CBS’Supergirlwill jump ship and head to The CW for Season 2. During the network’s upfront presentation, The CW presented a sizzle reel that featured all four of their superhero shows,Arrow,The Flash,Legends of TomorrowandSupergirl, including footage from theFlash and Supergirl crossoverthat aired on CBS in March. There has been talk of anepic crossoverbetween all four shows, whichArrowstarStephen Amellrecently addressed in interviews over the weekend.

Stephen Amellcan currently be seen on the big screen inTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and while promoting that movie withMTV, the actor was asked about the rumors that this four-way crossover could be a musical. The musical rumors were never confirmed by The CW, but ifStephen Amellhas any say in the matter, this crossover will not be a musical. Here’s what he had to say below.

“No. No. I’m out! I’m the first one. I get to draw the line, and I draw the line at musical.”

The actor also put in an appearance at Wizard World Philadelphia this weekend, where he teased that a crossover is in fact in the works, albeit not of the musical variety.Supergirlwill continue to air on Monday nights at 8 PM ET on The CW, anchoring the network’s superhero lineup, followed byThe Flashon Tuesdays at 8 PM ET,Arrowon Wednesdays at 8 PM ET andLegends of Tomorrowon Thursdays at 8 PM ET.Stephen Amellteased at the convention that fans could be treated to a crossover that spans all four nights of programming on The CW.

“I think what we’ll end up seeing is one giant four-night crossover. No seriously. (to much applause). How we’re going to end up doing that…I don’t know. But um, this is really um, this is kind of an unprecedented moment in terms of the history of network television. To have four shows, same showrunner. Um, obviously Supergirl is in a little bit of a different universe, but we can fix that. That’s one line of dialogue and it’s all fixed. So I would suspect Oliver will be meeting Supergirl at some point.”

Supergirlcrossed over withThe Flashduring a March episode, where Barry was mysteriously transported to National City. While he was trying to find a way home to Central City, Barry teamed up with Kara Zor-El (Mellisa Benoist) to take down two of her enemies, Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) and Livewire (Brit Morgan). It’s possible that, instead of Barry, Oliver and the Legends of Tomorrow being transported to National City, Kara is somehow transported to their universe. When asked about these crossovers,Stephen Amellrevealed that he doesn’t want them to take away from his show.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and I think the writers have as well. We had a discussion, and I said, ‘Look man.Arrowwas set up as a very specific thing, and it’s up to us to do what we do. And what we do, we do better than anyone else on TV.’ Part of the price of success is that we’ve had to introduce other shows. We can always get around new powers and people from other planets, but it is important that when all that dust settles that we are focussing on what we do well.”

The CW hasn’t announced premiere dates for the new seasons ofArrow,The Flash,Legends of TomorroworSupergirlyet, but the network typically doesn’t debut these shows until early October. Hopefully we’ll learn more about this potential four-night crossover during San Diego Comic Con next month, since all four shows will likely have a presence at the convention.
