TheSuper Bowlis always one of the biggest events of the year, which makes it the perfect time to showcase the blockbuster movies coming our way in 2016. 20th Century Fox’sX-Men: Apocalypseis surely one of the most highly-anticipated projects hitting theaters this summer, and thankfully the studio gave the fans what they want, with new footage that debuted duringSuper Bowl 50. This video features footage that we didn’t see in thefirst trailerthat debuted back in December.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of youngX-Mento stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction. It will be one of the greatest tests these Marvel superheroes have ever faced.

Bryan Singerhas teased in the past thatX-Men: Apocalypsewill be the end of the trilogy that includesX-Men: First Classand last year’sX-Men: Days of Future Past. 20th Century Fox is extending this belovedX-Menfranchise with three more movies that have connections to this universe,Deadpool,GambitandWolverine 3, but 20th Century Fox hasn’t confirmed any further plans. A report surfaced last month that claimedBryan Singeris prepping a mysteryX-Menmovie that 20th Century Fox will release in 2018, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

Reprising their roles from X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past areNicholas Hoult(Beast),Rose Byrne(Moira McTaggert),Evan Peters(Quicksilver). New cast members includeOscar Isaacas the villainous Apocalypse,Olivia MunnasPsylocke,Sophie TurnerasJean Grey,Alexandra Shippas Storm,Tye Sheridanas Cyclops andKodi Smit-McPheeas Nightcrawler. We’ve also included new photos from the trailer itself, which offer a better look at the action.
